oh sweet Tuesday...

I received about 10 hate emails today for work I'm doing on a documentary about dogs. Here are the choicest bits:

-HELL NO!!!!!!!No thank you

-This may be news to the fat couch potato dogs apparently owned by National Geographic staffers.

-You clearly should move on to tabloid journalism as it is your true calling.

I would like to thank my adoring fans! They really know how to make a girl feel special. But seriously, this wasn't even the meanest...

Also, I've been tagged! So, here's how the game goes:

• What I was doing 10 years ago: I was at my brother Ryan's wedding- I stole that from Sandi's blog (his wife!)... I was 14, awkward stage... Freshman in high school, at this time of year I would be playing tennis and getting ready for summer!
  
• Five things on my To Do List today: Read my book club book, laundry (yikes, I just remembered!), buy plane ticket for sister's wedding... sign up for BYU class, and write!
  
• Things I would do if I were a billionaire: I guess I would do everything... in style. I would have a live in chef who would do all my grocery shopping, I would have a house in NY, San Diego, Granite Bay, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, Provo, and Santa Rosa, a private jet that makes only direct flights, horses, a boat for wakeboarding, and I would quite my job and write fiction stories for kids, and I would send lots of boys on missions and help bring food and clean water to people in Africa and set up schools for kids in India and maybe I would have a private army that would wipe out bad people and save abused people and spread lots of music and love around the world! And I would buy an island in Ireland and Japan and have a garden and always invite my family over to play... And I would have a bird too.

Summer Blockbusters...

So, I used to have this addiction of going to the movies, a lot... when I lived in DC 2 summers ago I think I averaged 5 movies, in the movie theatre, every month. Needless to say, upon moving to NYC I decided I should probably take it easy, save some money, etc., so I joined NetFlix which per month cost the same as going to the movies once, and I could get about 8 movies instead. Well, The addiction has sort of returned, and at the perfect time, too, because there are a lot of great movies coming out this summer! In the past two weeks I've seen 3...

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspiancute and interesting... a little different from the book, but it was always my least favorite of the Narnia books so I think they did a good job. I especially liked the flying Griffon's and the costumes... the animation was okay... I'm totally over the two oldest Pevensie children, at the perfect time too since the next movie should only feature Lucy and Edmund.

Iron Man
uh-mazing... loved it. I want to go see it again in the theatre... and if you saw the American Idol finale, I think we can all agree that Robert Downey Jr. is awesome. A+ animation, it was cast perfectly, and the story line was unique. It's a must see.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skullcrazy good, and really funny. I think Shia LaBeouf did a great job as "Mutt". It walked the sci-fi line quite a bit, but all those Indy movies are crazy, right? And besides, I love sci-fi. Cate Blanchett did a great job as the bad guy.. girl.

Steven Spielberg is SO good at what he does, I love all his movies. Some of my top fave's...

War of the Worlds (out of this world AMAZING)

WOMEN MUST READ.......

This is an actual letter from an Austin woman sent to American company Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products.

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts.
But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings.
Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will
adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of control behavior. You surely realize it's a tough time for most women.

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants.. Which brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words:

'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny
middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James?

FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.
For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong'.

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bullshit. And that's a promise I will keep. Always. . .
