Summer Blockbusters...

So, I used to have this addiction of going to the movies, a lot... when I lived in DC 2 summers ago I think I averaged 5 movies, in the movie theatre, every month. Needless to say, upon moving to NYC I decided I should probably take it easy, save some money, etc., so I joined NetFlix which per month cost the same as going to the movies once, and I could get about 8 movies instead. Well, The addiction has sort of returned, and at the perfect time, too, because there are a lot of great movies coming out this summer! In the past two weeks I've seen 3...

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspiancute and interesting... a little different from the book, but it was always my least favorite of the Narnia books so I think they did a good job. I especially liked the flying Griffon's and the costumes... the animation was okay... I'm totally over the two oldest Pevensie children, at the perfect time too since the next movie should only feature Lucy and Edmund.

Iron Man
uh-mazing... loved it. I want to go see it again in the theatre... and if you saw the American Idol finale, I think we can all agree that Robert Downey Jr. is awesome. A+ animation, it was cast perfectly, and the story line was unique. It's a must see.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skullcrazy good, and really funny. I think Shia LaBeouf did a great job as "Mutt". It walked the sci-fi line quite a bit, but all those Indy movies are crazy, right? And besides, I love sci-fi. Cate Blanchett did a great job as the bad guy.. girl.

Steven Spielberg is SO good at what he does, I love all his movies. Some of my top fave's...

Jurassic Park (no brainer)
War of the Worlds (out of this world AMAZING)
Minority Report

If you haven't you should should see all of these. :)

WOMEN MUST READ.......

This is an actual letter from an Austin woman sent to American company Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products.

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts.
But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings.
Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will
adjust and I'll be transformed into what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing?

As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood swings, crying jags, and out-of control behavior. You surely realize it's a tough time for most women.

The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants.. Which brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words:

'Have a Happy Period.'

Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny
middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James?

FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory.
For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong'.

Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending bullshit. And that's a promise I will keep. Always. . .

Best,

San Diego for the Weekend...

I went to San Diego this past weekend to visit Shelby and Dave. It was lotsa fun! We went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park!!!
Here is Shelby being a monkey with the gorillas...

Ashley and the Giraffes...

Dave with the Elephants...

Bird Habitat number 1- there were so many cool birds! And they were SO close to us too!

We went on a Safari and saw this giraffe up close in it's simulated natural habitat of Africa! (That is Shelby on the left)
Dave loves the owls...

The only thing better than a zoo? A zoo with a petting zoo!!!
This wasn't our favorite deer, but it was the biggest and most hungry, so we fed it a lot of pellets and Shelby tried to kiss it, but it wasn't up for that.
Our FAVORITE deer only had one eye- This is a pic of the big hungry one again...
We spent A LOT of the day hanging with Simba and the otha lions: Daddy lion, 2 momma lions, and 7 cute baby lions!!
We watched them play just 30 (or so) feet away!Daddy lion chillin' on the land rover...
Daddy lion is sleepy... this kinda looks like a sphinx in Egypt! Yeah, we went there too...
Next, we visited the 2nd Bird Habitat!
This is our special bird friend (did not fly) in the bird habitat.
He hobbled around with his ruffled feathers and looked up at the people.
We felt bad he couldn't fly, so we fed it most of our nectar... ...that, and he was the only bird we saw in that place for like 20 minutes...Finally we caught a flying one, too.

This is Flat Tristan, our little niece Tristan sent me this flat doll as a class assignment. It was my job to take Flat Tristan around and take pics of her doing stuff to send back to Tristan. Here is Flat Tristan with Shelby and Dave...
Flat Tristan at Bird Show...That Meerkat on the right tried to eat Flat Tristan! We took this picture right before he noticed we were invading his territory....
Flat Tristan and Pelicans...Flat Tristan in her natural habitat...

Shelby and I took a trip up to Irvine to visit Derrick and went to the Golden Spoon! (Irvine's Honey Treat)...Shelby and Ashley at the Golden Spoon...
The End!
