XSport

I joined a gym! I've belonged to a gym (or had one in my building) since halfway through college... excluding these past six months. Well, it finally became UNBEARABLE to be outside, so I decided to join a gym! And the one I joined is SO cool. Here's what it has:

4,000 treadmills
a rock climbing wall
salt water swimming pool (better for hair)
massage parlor
free pilates and yoga classes
and every other awesome thing that an awesome gym would have. I'm so excited! AND there are multiple locations, AND it's only $26 a month! 24 hours/7 days/356 days a year!

XSport, I'm excited to get to know you better.

Benihana!

My whole life I've always wanted to go to a Benihana type restaurant, and last night I got my chance! Not only was it SO good, the presentation was phenom! Our chef put on quite the show. Right down to the onion volcano (aka Ashley's dream come true). SO fun. AND (don't be too shocked) the chef tossed a flying shrimp into my mouth, and I actually caught it (and swallowed it as quickly as possible to avoid tasting it...) it was awesome. I suggest everyone get themselves to a Teppanyaki restaurant ASAP! DELICIOUS steak and veggies and rice etc... and FABULOUS entertainment.

(I forgot my camera, so I borrowed these pics from the internet.)

Into The Wild

I read this book recently, and totally forgot to blog about it! and here I've been beating my brains trying to think of things to blog about. Well, here goes. I really liked this book. I recommend it. I already had another friend read it, and he liked it too (so there). It's about a kid who graduated college and then fell off the map. Lost contact with everyone he ever knew- on purpose- and decided to live as a tramp, or "Supertramp" as he preferred to be called. You find out in the first chapter of the book that his choices would ultimately lead to his death, but the journey he takes you on is quite intriguing. The only negative I could say about the story is that the author tries to draw these parallels between himself and Chris McCandless (the main character) but I just don't see it. The real intrigue lays in Chris' idealism, influences and how he chose to live his life. Some people think he was crazy. But I don't. I think he went for what he thought would make him happy. And it worked, for awhile- until, as the author says, he made a couple of mistakes. I don't even know that I thought he was reckless. McCandless lived in his own world, by his own rules. He definitely had flaws, but don't we all?

Read this book. I'm still meaning to see the movie... will blog about that too... soon.

Mad World

I watched "The Box" this weekend, and it was... well, interesting. The acting was not the best (or was it the directing?) not really sure, but there was something not great about it (perhaps the cheesy accents). But at the same time, it was a very original story. Kind of thrilling, too, a total mystery- and those kinds of movies are fun, especially when they have you on the edge of your seat. And we were definitely that!
So "The Box" was written and directed by the same guy that did "Donnie Darko". I liked that one much better. It's a really bizarre and interesting movie, if you haven't seen it. I always enjoy a totally original story, and both of these are just that (more so DD than Box, but you get the picture).

grape G2 takes like melted purple popsicles

Reminds me of when Shelby smooshed a purple popsicle into my favorite t-shirt (that I was wearing at the time) GBHS Basketball Stat Staff. We were wrestling in the family room after school right under Larry Bird's cage... I was horrified, thought my white shirt was stained FOREVER. I ran immediately and threw it into the washer. Luckily, all the purple came out. I can't remember what the fight was about. But...
I'm pretty sure she started it.

STORY CORRECTION:
I started it. And... I deserved it.

Beautiful Hammock, Beautiful Sky

It never gets old. I love my life.

Mystery solved

Spring cleaning lead me to discover that my bedroom window was open a crack on one side... A millipede sized crack, that is... and the screen is bent with an approximate millipede sized opening. The floors have been cleared and vacuumed, and I did find one more tiny bugger, but I think it's safe to say no more HUGE nasties. Window is now shut properly. Mystery solved.

Millipede from HELL

I was chattin' it up with Court when I got home tonight, and glanced across the room where I saw a black thing wiggling across my floor!!! It was the biggest nastiest millipede! I've never been one to react strongly to spiders or rats or anything like that... but THIS was DISGUSTING!!! Court insisted I take a picture with something to verify it's size, so I threw down my pen (which I later used to help pick up the millipede and now must be burned). The thing literally made me gag, absolutely disgusting. And HOW the heck did it get in here?!?! Now I'm uber paranoid there are other nasties in my room!!! :\
