The DC Temple

Snapped this on my phone cam last night... I was like ooh-ing and ahh-ing for 10 minutes straight between when we first saw it coming off the freeway until I walked inside. So beautiful, and huge!

WhoooOOOoooo....?

Apparently I have a new neighbor. I do not know what *kind* of bird he is... but when it's really dark outside at all hours of the morning, I hear a little whhoooOOOooo... whhooOOOooooo.... WHOOOOOOOOOOooo....My guess is Owl... or Dove. I'm secretly hoping he's an owl, cause I'd like to see him! If he's a dove, I'm getting a BB gun.

My LIFE has CHANGED

It all happened when I was driving to an appointment today, amidst an inordinate amount of traffic (in my opinion for 4pm on a Tuesday) when I decided that I ought to get to know my Sirius radio stations better before they expire at the end of next month. I've had my car for several weeks and have only made it up to station 14- "The Highway" new country.

But then I started to explore, and I found the most WONDERFUL station! Who knew that something so wonderful could even exist- station 76 "Cinemagic"

Cinemagic has changed my life. As I was driving, the world around me became more beautiful. It's like having your own soul awakening soundtrack live in your car! If you haven't experienced this first hand, come take a ride with me. You won't be disappointed!

...and I'll be extending my subscription to Sirius XM, so even if you can't make it by the end of March, we can still ride in style whenever you get to me...
:)

The Baby's Coming!

My sis is having a baby! His name is as yet unknown, but he will be here in the next few hours!!! I'll be sure to post updates and pics soon! :) Send prayers care of Courtney, Matt and Baby in Roseville, California!!!

How about the Hoff and a couple of puppies to cheer you up? I seem to have contracted laryngitis, of sorts... my throat sounds uber froggy! But that's not going to stop me!The gals and I are heading to an 80's cover band concert tonight, and I can't wait! Check in later, I'll post pics of the night... :)

Pluto is not a planet (anymore)

Well, I think we all know that's old news...BUT! Heidi recently sent me the funniest link to a bunch of letter's from 3rd graders to the Scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson, whose museum displayed that Pluto should not be classified as a planet. There were several kids who were quite distraught about it!

Click HERE to read their letters, they are funny!

Anything having to do with Neil deGrasse Tyson reminds me of my favorite TV series where he guest starred. This scene is kind of long (90 secs) but pay attention to the part about Pluto! SO funny...

You should also recognize Bill Nye the Science Guy in this clip...

Grease the Musical

One of my work friends gave my other friend and I free tickets to see Grease the Musical tonight! Hands down, the best part of the show was when a giant ice cream cone floating above the stage hinges open to where the American Idol Taylor Hicks is standing who then starts singing as he floats down to the stage. Pure genius. Only to be compared to the moment Frenchie whispers to Hicks "I voted for you!" lol The rest of the show was alright, first half was way better than second half... I could have sworn that Marty was played by Kristin Chenoweth she was so good... Roger was really funny too... everyone else was okay, and Danny was blah.

It was such a fun night! Thanks Gina and Rachel!

The dog my mom should get...

Haircut, collar and name... meet FalcorFor more hipster puppies... click here

Ooh La La... Be My Valentine!

Here is a picture from Friday night (Erin's eye's were closed, so I only included her hair... :)
Valentine's day rocked this year! Check out a few items that now fill my apartment with Love!!!

ROSES!

CHOCOLATES!!!
PURSE!
Memory Foam Mattress Topper! (this I got while out with Britt... SO comfy to sleep on)
Also, in honor of my love affair with New York I made blueberry pancakes for V-Day breakfast (a weekly NY tradition) and they were delicious (along with a Mango Tango smoothie and authentic Maple Syrup). The perfect breakfast.
Thanks to all my Valentines! xoxo

Movies

When in Rome
I saw this movie being filmed in NY, though (of course) they cut that scene from the final show! Very funny at moments (including one specific cameo), but also very predictable... all in all, it was okay. More of a rental than a movie theater movie.

Dear John
It's hard for me to watch movies about guys in the armed forces when they come from a crappy life and then their life just keeps being crappy. I almost walked out in the middle, but didn't want to leave my roomie (who loves Channing Tatum). I did not like this story. Characters were making decisions that just didn't make sense! Annoying.

TimTam's - Australia's Favorite Cookie

I'd like to give a little shout out to the TimTam, Australia's (and possibly Ashley's) favorite cookie! First introduced to me by my roommate's Australian friends, these cookies are dang good (especially frozen) and they were being offered for a limited time at Target so I practically bought them out! My freezer is now full. :)

If you ever see these for sale, buy some! If I know anything, I know cookies.

Snowmageddon Snowpocalypse

As you may have heard, there is some crazy snowage going on around these parts. Honestly, it's been like Christmas for me! I couldn't fall asleep last night until almost 3am, and then I woke up at the crack of 9:30am SO excited to see how the snow was doing! My roommie and I had planned an exciting day of being trapped at home, which included (among other things) going out to play in the snow!
This required putting on several layers, as the snow has continued to fall ALL day long. Here I am all pimped out.
Snow angels! I have been thinking about this for several days, and doing it was even better than expected. Running and jumping in two feet of snow was so fun!
These pics were all taken around my apartment complex. As you can see from the above, my car (right) is completely snowed over (you could barely see shorter cars).
These are my friends Sarah and Erin (friend down the hall and roommate).

The Kingdom

http://thecia.com.au/reviews/k/images/kingdom-poster-1.jpg
This movie was freaking crazy. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Props to Jennifer Garner for her kick-a scene, and oh my heck to Jason Bateman's scene with the terrorists. Seeing the Saudi police off the job was amazing. It was a great action flick, crazy violent but completely touching. This film is not for the weak of stomach.

ONCE

I saw this movie last night with my friend Rachel, and we loved it! The music is awesome! It was actually an independent film made for less than a hundred thousand (which is a tiny film budget) and later ended up winning the Academy Award for best song! It's a beautiful song, here it is...

Danger at Nat Geo

I've been trying to convince the "powers that be" at Nat Geo that crocodiles in the work place (as part of their "green" initiative) is a terrible idea. But, no one listens to the new girl!
That's how I found myself in this situation...Turns out he just wanted to have a "who can open your mouth bigger contest"... I lost, obviously. (Working hard at Nat Geo!!)
