Thank you Green Guide

So the Green Guide is in the process of moving out of our current office to another NG office in the city. Green Guide is a magazine that is all about being green, low carbon output, all natural cleaning products, etc. In their exit, they had a massive give away with all the products they've gathered over the last year or so. Yay for us, who get lots of free gifts! I rummaged through the stuff, and came up with the following:
Not sure how this hat is green... says it was made in China... yeah, I hear they're pretty green. Perhaps it's made out of recycled paper towels, or something?
Love it. At least the CD cover is green! I may have found the only two items in the entire pile that aren't actually green!

Other notable finds?
~Shampoo made out of dirt (all natural)
~T-shirt that says in HUGE letters "POWER TO THE PLANET"

I've been listening to the Jazz CD all night... it's really great! Here's a little ditty from the CD called "Take the A Train", dedicated to JT who will be taking the A Train tomorrow to visit me!

Halloween at the Bronx Zoo!

New York, New York -- A Surinam horned frog sits on a pumpkin at the Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo in this undated photo. Zoo animals are given pumpkins around Halloween for physical and mental "behavioral enrichment," according to the society.

Surinam horned frogs are also known as Pac-Man frogs due to their wide mouths. The primarily nocturnal frogs live among the leaf litter in the Amazon rainforests. They are avid feeders, employing a sit-and-wait ambush on their prey.
(Thank you National Geographic)

I love this picture! It's a Halloween present for Shelby... she loves the frogs.

Jazz - Another night of culture

Meghan had an extra free ticket to see Jane Monheit tonight at the famous Jazz club Birdland, so I got to go along! SO FUN! (side note, I literally walk past Birdland twice a day on my way to and from work, but I've never been inside until tonight!)Best part, the tickets were some sort of Comp tickets from the law firm that represents Monheit, (Meghan has ALL the connections...) so we were treated like VIP's. Which is funny, cause we totally acted like TOURISTS. We asked a guy who worked there to take our picture in front of the stage, and after he said, "and where are you visiting us from?" Long pause.... "oh, uh, we actually live here, in NYC." Totally embarrassing... yeah, we were the only people who took a picture in front of the stage. Now that I mention it, we were the youngest people in that place by like 20 years!
Here is a pic of Jane! I totally called Shelby on my cell phone and held if up for her to listen. We were sitting only 30 feet away from her! She has a beautiful voice!

New Wall Art

Lookie what I made. I love them. They are the only thing on my living room wall right now (aside from the green monster dog, but that's actually in the kitchen). The other walls are newly painted BLUE, and we still have a second coat to go before putting up more wall art on those walls. :)

Renaissance Festival 2008!

While in DC this weekend visiting Britt and Joe, we went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival! It was totally fun! There was a general consensus the Festival was a lot like Disneyland... Here we are below- Matt, Joe, Britt, me... and here's what we did!Watched a sword swallower/comedian... crazy stuff! Ate every fried food you can think of including a deep fried snickers...Watched an archery demonstration by William Wallace. Did you know that archers back in medieval times had to practice archery 2 hours a day, and that drawing the bow took 150 pounds of pressure??! Those guys were STRONG!Here we are in front of part of Revel Grove.Don't worry about it... we got front row seats to the Joust!Ever seen A Knight's Tale? This was one of those guys who got the audience cheering for the Knights! His sign said "Hazzah!" and when he raised it we all yelled "Hazzah!"Here's our Knight, Sir William. In this event, he and the other Knight whacked each other in the heads as hard as they could with their wooden stick/sword thing (since real swords are much too dangerous) though watching this looked pretty dangerous too! Their ears must have been ringing! Here is an actual Joust! It was real stuff! They broke off lances into each other and everything! Apparently, it's not super dangerous, people seldom get seriously injured (aside from their ego). These Knights were the real deal!
We rocked out to some celtic drum/bagpipe music. THAT was cool.We thought we should probably get some pics with some people in cool outfits. Here is Joe and Matt with a wizard... the best part about this photo? We had to wait for the wizard to get off his cell phone to take this... and he's holding a glass of beer. Here's Britt and I with a retired Knight!Cheesecake on a stick?? They had just about anything and everything on a stick at the Festival! We also watched a guy blow glass into a beautiful vase! That was cool. Here is Britt and me. The Festival was a blast!
