I'm taking this amazing class right now on "Lying". Here's the best line in my text book (so far) I stumbled across this morning on the subway:
"Messages between human beings can suffer from a number of unintended distortions or interferences, originating either at the source, en route, or at the reception. The speaker, for example, may be mistaken, inarticulate, or using a language unknown to the listener. En route, the message may be deflected by outside noise, by atmospheric conditions, by interruption. At the receiving end, deafness, fatigue, language problems, or mental retardation may affect the reception of the message."

"At the receiving end" should also include "lack of desire to hear what is being said" - - - that is usually my problem :)
That's good... for a second there I thought it was "mental retardation".

I usually find that "mental retardation" impedes the reception of my messages to people- especially telemarketers when I tell them to F-off.....
Most moms would agree that fatigue impedes their ability to receive and comprehend kidlet messages, especially in the PM.
yes Mother, I concur- although I think it is a combination of fatigue, and Law and Order....
I would concur that "mental retardation" does seem to have a correlation with many of the peepage I have the opportunity of corresponding with!
